Addo Elephant National Park - Experience a world of diversity in one park
The only national park in the world with the Big 7, this finely tuned ecosystem is sanctuary to over 450 elephants, Cape buffalo, black rhino, a variety of buck, as well as the flightless dung beetle, found almost exclusively in Addo, and is currently being expanded from 164 000 ha to a 360 000 ha mega-park. In addition, plans include the proposed proclamation of a 120 000 ha marine reserve that includes islands that are home to the world's largest breeding populations of Cape gannets and second largest breeding population of African penguins. Sundays River
Sundays river is well known for its beauty, enjoy a boat ride down to the river mouth, hire a canoe or climb the sand dunes to catch a glimpse of the spectacular sweeping views.
The mouth of the river flows through the Alexandria Dunefields, which stretch for an incredible 50km. They are the highest dunes south of the Namib Desert and in some places reach 150m. Anglers find the river excellent to fish in. The area also has a prolific bird life, with 44 species found on the dunes alone. Bird spotters can look out for the majestic Fish Eagle, the African Spotted Eagle Owl or the Damara Tern.
